The bond between children and their toys represents a first kind of friendship. Dolls and puppets are given life and become an actual human surrogate with emotional and social value.
This set of photographs gathers the latent fragments in the adult's mind. Each element is isolated and confined to a dramatic dimension, a restricted and schematic space in homological relation with the other characters.
The toy is presented as such, brought back to an impersonal and serialized dimension that provokes a state of anxiety in the onlooker now unable to project himself over the object.
The obsessive repetition of the square emphasizes the gap between the constraint of the real picture and the widened and timeless dimension of memory.
The onlooker is in front of a sort of gravestone where everyone's first childhood friends are commemorated and remembered.
